- We recommend keeping your car temperature-controlled to help mitigate temperature during extreme climates, such as very hot or cold days.
- Properly separate, enclose, and keep insulated bags sealed throughout the delivery.
- Keep the interior of your vehicle clean to ensure there is no contamination risk to groceries.
- Do not smoke, including electronic cigarettes, in your car while delivering.
- Do not keep animals in your car or allow them to come into contact with grocery items.
- When arriving at the customer’s house, attempt to keep items in your insulated bags until you reach the customer’s door.
- If the customer requests that you leave any perishable items unattended, please make sure the request is in writing through the detailed order notes on the order.
- After completing the delivery, inspect your insulated bags and follow the cleaning procedures if necessary.
Using insulated bags
AJ Eats-Delivery insulated bag policy requires all drivers to use insulated bags or hard coolers when transporting temperature-sensitive foods. Hot food items should be placed in a separate insulated bag from refrigerated or frozen food items.
Make sure insulated bags do the following:
- Close completely (e.g., bags must have a zipper to close the bag; hard plastic coolers must have a lid that closes)
- Hold a minimum of 4 standard-sized grocery bags
- Have a foam insulation material at least 3mm thick (e.g., polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene)
- Have a foil (Mylar) or other non-absorbent lining on the inside that is easily cleanable, non-absorbent and food contact-safe
- Do not have materials that contain lead or other harmful toxins (e.g., California Proposition 65-compliant)
Keep insulated bags and coolers clean:
- Wipe down your insulated bag/hard cooler with disinfectant wipes.
- Wipe the cleaner residue out with water and a clean cloth or paper towel.
- Use a new cloth or paper towel to dry out the container.
